Are Women Really Each Other’s Enemies? My Story Says Otherwise!

How many times have you heard the saying that women are each other’s worst enemies? That we’re always tearing each other down? We’ve all come across this narrative, whether in mainstream media or casual conversations. While I won’t deny that it happens at times, the constant focus on women being against each other really needs to stop. By only highlighting the negative, we’re ignoring the other side of the story—the side that’s beautiful, empowering, and filled with support.

In fact, just last week, I found myself reflecting on how wrong that narrative is in my own life. One morning, I looked back on this year and realized how much the women around me have shaped my journey in the most positive ways. I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My growth and learning this year have been fueled by the incredible women in my life. Time and time again, they’ve nudged me in the right direction, and today, I stand proud, knowing I wouldn’t be where I am without their influence and support.

Take, for example, a trip I took earlier this year to meet with some girlfriends I met through a book club. I returned home not just with memories but with a whole list of life lessons I couldn’t wait to put into action. These women gave me a crash course in everything—from money habits and skincare to fitness tips and investment strategies. Before that, I had no idea what a High-Yield Savings Account (HYSA) or a Roth IRA (Individual Retirement Account) even was. No one had ever taught me these things, but they did—sparking a genuine interest in financial literacy that has changed my outlook.

Since then, I’ve read finance books, listened to podcasts, followed relevant content on social media, and started applying what I’ve learned. And guess what? I’ve actually earned some extra cash through interest in my HYSA! I even went ahead and opened a Roth IRA. These amazing women empowered me to take charge of my finances, showing me how to be the boss baddie of my own life. How wonderful is that?

And then there’s a friend, a corporate powerhouse, a travel enthusiast, and a career guru. She’s my go-to whenever I’m feeling low or unmotivated at work. Whenever we talk, she reminds me to keep pushing forward, learning, and advocating for myself. She keeps me on my toes when it comes to negotiating, seeking new opportunities, and leveling up my career. After every conversation, I feel recharged and ready to take on the professional world with fresh motivation. I’m beyond grateful to have this inspiring woman in my corner.

I can’t also forget another girlfriend who has transformed her life through fitness and healthy living. Watching her journey has been the ultimate motivation for me to stay consistent with my own workouts. Let’s be real—sometimes working out feels like a drag. You’re left wondering, “Is this even working? Am I getting stronger? Should I keep going?” But thanks to her, I’ve learned the power of consistency. She doesn’t just talk about it—she lives and breathes it, reminding me that fitness isn’t just about looking a certain way. It’s about how your body feels and how it strengthens in different ways. She’s the one who got me into running, and honestly, I don’t know if I would have even attempted it without her influence. Even though we don’t live in the same city anymore, she’s still my benchmark for fitness.

Just like her, I have another incredible woman in my life (I know, lucky me 😀) who constantly reminds me of the power of women supporting women. I remember a heartfelt conversation we had, where we talked about how much women actually uplift each other, despite the persistent narrative suggesting otherwise. She’s more like a sister to me, always there when I need life advice. She’s a constant reminder that women can, and do, act as each other’s greatest allies, even though the negative stereotypes try to tell a different story.

Whatever the narrative may be, for me, the women in my life are my backbone. Sure, I’m capable of learning and growing on my own, but with their support, I’m able to grow at an exponential rate. They inspire me every single day, and I’m constantly reminded that I’m capable of achieving far more than I ever thought possible.

So, here’s to the women in our lives who uplift, inspire, and motivate us to be the best versions of ourselves. Let’s ditch the negativity and start celebrating the incredible support we can give each other. At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to navigate this wild world—and it’s so much easier (and way more fun!) when we do it together.

Let’s keep lifting each other up and remind ourselves that we are the boss baddies of our own lives!

P.S. To my amazing girlfriends—Thank you, ladies! You all are the BEST, and I truly believe you help me become a better version of myself every single day. 💖

Take care!
